Five Minute Friday: Blessings

Count your many blessings. Count them one by one.

Can you do that?

I love when my children gripe and complain about how bad they have it.  You know…..that messy room that needs cleaning and its just too messy to touch.  That yucky food that mom cooks, and “MOM! WHY DO YOU EVEN COOK THAT? YOU KNOW I HATE BASKETTI!” It’s so awful when they have to take a bath and put on clean underwear.  Life is terrible when we have to leave our technology and go somewhere.

Yes, I love those moments.  Teachable moments where I can show them the many blessings they have.  Food to eat. Running water. Toys. Clothes. Technology. Cars.

But aren’t grownups just tall children?  Don’t we too forget to see our blessings?  There are blessings found in the dirty laundry and dirty dishes. There are blessings to be found in Legos and crayons on the floor. There are blessings in soured milk sippy cups found in the back of the car.

We need only open our eyes and search God to find our blessings.  They are there. They are simple. Yet, we take them for granted day after day.

If you can’t get enough encouragement reading the FMF blog posts, you should really consider getting your hands on a copy of the Five Minute Friday book.

Ah, it is true that adults are just tall children at times! Thanks for sharing this reminder of taking our own advice we dish out to the little ones around us. 🙂 Your FMF neighbor, Bethany

I love this: “But aren’t grownups just tall children?” It is so true- I think we all need a reminder to count our blessings instead of complaining at times.
